Adorn London
Some of you know, but some don’t, that I lecture Jewellery
drawing to 1st years. part time at the Durban Institute of
Technology. I really enjoy drawing and think that it is a great tool to
document your ideas as well as a communication tool. Anyone can draw, if you
put in the effort and practice you can only improve. The more you draw the
better you become and the more you gain confidence and develop your own style.
I love the fact that each person has there style like handwriting. It is always
difficult at the beginning of the year trying to gain confidence in students (some have never done Art at school), but by the end I am beaming with pride.
Here are some of my student works. This was their first introduction into
colour and watercolour.
So I guess you are wondering what this has to do with Adorn London. Well I follow the blog and love to see what is going on and what’s new.
Well the other day they featured a book 'Drawing Jewels for Fashion' that looked really interesting. I am
always on the look out for new or interesting books about jewellery drawing.
They were also giving away a copy all you had to do was comment. So I did.
Yesterday I received an email from the Editor saying that I had won. I don’t think that I have won anything. It
was my first day back at work this year, I couldn’t think of a better way to
start it. I thank you Adorn London, and I can’t wait to share it with the
students and my colleague’s. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
