I went to Joburg last month and popped into Tinsel's new shop in Parkhurst. What a lovely simple shop where the jewellery is the hero! I also dropped off some new stock.

Geometric Earrings

Here are some more earrings. I love that the elements move on the earring hook, changing position all the time. So sometimes the pairs will be the same and other times different. They are made with sterling silver with the "gold" elements in bronze.

Earrings with Geometric Shapes

I was so excited to see the result of the shapes into pieces, so I quickly had to make some earrings. Here is the first taste of what will become of the shapes. These earrings are made with sterling silver hooks and bronze shapes.

Boxed In

I know I have been a terrible blogger lately. I have been lecturing 1st years at tech. They took all my energy and gave some back to me. My contract is over, sadly as I enjoyed them immensely. On the other hand I can concentrate on my jewellery again. I will still see them for drawing though. Here is a page from one of my sketchbooks.

And this is the result in silver.

So for a name now??!!!! So what do i call this range? I was thinking of Everyday Lucy.
Let me know what you think or your suggestions.

Love Donut's

This donut won't sit on your hips but your neck. These silver donuts are all stamped with the words love, lief and thando, which all mean LOVE. The are in English, Afrikaans and Zulu. I made around Valentines but the transcend that. They are for anyone you love, should it be a friend, mom, sister or lover.

City Pool

I went to the museum to day with Rhys to find that we where a bit early, so we went for a walk. We found the empty City Pools. It was sad to see it in that state but fun to "swim" in and have races.

Adorn London

Some of you know, but some don’t, that I lecture Jewellery drawing to 1st years. part time at the Durban Institute of Technology. I really enjoy drawing and think that it is a great tool to document your ideas as well as a communication tool. Anyone can draw, if you put in the effort and practice you can only improve. The more you draw the better you become and the more you gain confidence and develop your own style. I love the fact that each person has there style like handwriting. It is always difficult at the beginning of the year trying to gain confidence in students (some have never done Art at school), but by the end I am beaming with pride. Here are some of my student works. This was their first introduction into colour and watercolour.

So I guess you are wondering what this has to do with Adorn London. Well I follow the blog and love to see what is going on and what’s new. Well the other day they featured a book 'Drawing Jewels for Fashion' that looked really interesting. I am always on the look out for new or interesting books about jewellery drawing. They were also giving away a copy all you had to do was comment. So I did. Yesterday I received an email from the Editor saying that I had won.  I don’t think that I have won anything. It was my first day back at work this year, I couldn’t think of a better way to start it. I thank you Adorn London, and I can’t wait to share it with the students and my colleague’s. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
